The Pawcatuck Valley Coin Club is an organization founded in 1962 to promote numismatics in the Eastern Connecticut and Rhode Island area and throughout Connecticut. Members meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 P.M. at the Stonington Arms Recreation Room located at Route 1, 133 S. Broad St. Pawcatuck, CT. The Juniors Roundtable begins at 6:30 PM, and the Bourse opens at 6:45 PM. The meeting begins at 7:15PM.
The goal of the Pawcatuck Valley Coin Club is to provide its members with a enjoyable environment in which they can enjoy sharing our hobby with other like-minded enthusiasts. We stress numismatic education and related topics so our members can take share, teach and learn about numismatics.
We encourage members every month to exhibit coins and currency to display with other members at our monthly meetings.
WORD OF FAREWELL FROM OUR OUTGOING PRESIDENT:
During the past twelve years as an officer (Recording/Corresponding Secretary, and President) I have experienced immense personnel growth because of the work I have enjoyed doing for the club. I’ve learned public speaking, how to run a meeting; give presentations, and most importantly the skill of writing. These skills have led me to writing a novel, and giving presentations all over the country including at the ANA. I’ve also won the Kam Ahwash award for the best article in the Gobrecht Journal in 2015.
My purpose in stating these things is not to blow my own horn but to hopefully inspire others to reach beyond their comfort level and expand their horizons. We will be holding elections this month here’s your chance to reach beyond your comfort level and help your favorite club at the same time. There’s always room for new blood.
The June meeting is also the PIZZA party, please conceder bringing something to share, soda, cups, ice, cookies, brownies, etc. It’s also a good meeting to bring something special for exhibits.
See you at the meeting
ONE FURTHER IMPORTANT NOTE:
The slate of officers is the same as always with the exception of the president. John Lauderdale #875 is the nomination for that position.
Ryan Obermeyer #862 has stressed that a replacement for his position is needed as he will transfer and be un-able to continue doing the “recording secretary’s” position for much longer. No attending members were willing to come forward to take over that position. Ryan agreed to one final year.
We hope our members will give this some thought, and step up to help their club with this situation.
